• WHAT:  NewsBank on microfiche  is a collection of news articles gleaned from newspapers around the country. The fiche collection is no longer being added to.  Global NewsBank is an online version which runs from 1996 to current and contains local and regional news from the Bellingham Herald since 2000.
   
• FORMAT & SCOPE:       NewsBank:  Microfiche, 1970 - 1996
                                              Global NewsBank:  1996 -  onward  (internet only)
   
• ORGANIZATION:  Microfiche collection is arranged by NewsBank subject headings and then by year within those headings. The user must actually view the fiche cards to determine what articles have been supplied about a given subject area.
   
• INDEX:  Paper indexes for NewsBank fiche are shelved with the Microform Index collection along the south windows of Wilson 2 West.  These print resources do not index specific articles but rather subject areas covered.  View the cards for that subject area and year to see which articles are available.
