Learning Commons Partners - Research & Instruction, the Writing Center, and Writing Instruction Support
This month’s display case features three of the eight Learning Commons Partners focused on writing and research support. One of the highlighted partners is Writing Instruction Support which provides resources and support for faculty interested in incorporating writing into their courses. The display includes John Bean’s text, Engaging Ideas, and Wayne Robertson’s film, Writing Across Borders; both of which are highly referred to within Western’s library. The display also features the Writing Center, which is usually thought of as the student version of Writing Instruction Support. The Writing Center provides our students with strategies and assistance related to reading and writing. The display includes some of the fun and calming items used within the Writing Center that help writers “get unstuck.” The last partner featured in this month’s display is Research & Instruction. The brand-new OneSearch library catalog system is the focus for Research & Instruction this quarter and the display includes many of their tips for students and other users interested in getting familiar with the new database.
