Private Sector Funding Priorities for the
Western Washington University Foundation
The University Libraries, 2003 - 2004
While there are many ways donors can help the library, its highest priority is building an endowment fund which will support development of library collections, both physical and electronic.

Proceeds from the endowment are used exclusively to fund the purchase of materials for the library's collection. Materials may be in any format, including but not limited to: books, journals, audio recordings, video recordings and computer-based information.
This endowment was created in 2002 with a founding gift of $45,000. Any donor may, at any time, make additional contributions to the fund by gift, will or otherwise. Substantial gifts may be used to create separate collection endowments with a specific subject emphasis or in honor of a particular person.
Like other academic libraries, Western's has a state-funded budget for library materials. Even so, it cannot afford everything our students and faculty need. Gifts from private donors provide significant and lasting help. A library collection is an enduring resource which benefits many generations of students and faculty. |
