Locating Film Reviews in Magazines and Journals
- Arts and Humanities Citation Index (Web of Science)
• Dates covered: 1990-current
Arts & Humanities Citation Index is a multidisciplinary database covering the journal literature of the arts and humanities, including archaeology, architecture, art, Asian studies, classics, dance, film, folklore, history, language, linguistics, literature, music, philosophy, poetry, religion and theatre. It indexes over 1000 of the leading arts and humanities journals as well as selected science and social science journals. Because the database includes the article's bibliography or cited reference list, you can also search the database for articles that cite a known author or older article. Consortium (12 Libraries) Shares 15 Users.
- Alternative Press Index
API indexes film reviews in "alternative and radical" publications like In These Times, The Progressive, Cineaste, The Nation, and the Utne Reader. API Covers mainstream American films, foreign films, independent films, and documentaries. For coverage prior to 1991 (1969-2001), use the print version located in the Reference Collection: Ref. A13 .A27

Art Index is a good source for current film reviews. Date range of database coverage is 1984- . The print version of Art Index provides coverage back to 1929.
- EBSCO - Academic Search Complete
Academic Search Complete is a scholarly, multi-disciplinary full-text database, with more than 5,500 full-text periodicals, including more than 4,600 peer-reviewed journals. Select "entertainment review" under Document Type to locate film reviews.
- Ethnic Newswatch and ENW: a History
• Dates covered: 1990-current
Ethnic Newswatch is a full-text collection of the newspapers, magazines, and journals of the ethnic, minority and native press. Go to advanced search and select "More Search Options." Under "Document Type - Review" select "Movie Review" and combine with a film title. Searchable in English or Spanish. 1990- .

Wilson Company, is a database containing comprehensive indexing of the most popular general-interest periodicals published in the United States and reflects the history of 20th century America. Coverage is currently 1890-1982. Good for review of older films.

A subject index to the periodical literature of film and Television/Video. Search by film title in the volume that covers the date your film was released. This is a useful index for obscure films and foreign titles as it indexes over 300 international film periodicals.
