      This journal gives the latest FASB standards when they are issued. This journal is available in full text through Proquest. Therefore, search the Proquest Database for the latest standards in full text.

  • Mastery of the Financial Accounting Research System (FARS) through FARS cases / Wallace, Wanda A

    Use of this database is limited to the WWU community. FARS provides access to accounting literature from the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and Emerging Issues Task Force (EITF). The Infobases contained in FARS are "Original Pronouncements, Current Text, EITF Abstracts, Implementation Guides and a Comprehensive Topical Index" with other topical resources such as that on Derivatives Instruments and Hedging Activities and the FARS Reference Guide. This CD ROM contains the latest Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) standards. It is available at the Reference Desk. You must ask for it, and sign it out. It runs on 2 computer stations in the reference area. Please ask for help identifying machines to use. Alternatively, you may install this CD in your own personal laptop. To do this use the "set up" command. FARS will not run in any of the labs or Western Library laptops.

    The Miller GAAP Guide organizes accounting pronouncements alphabetically by topic under two general areas: generally accepted accounting principles and specialized industry accounting principles. Pronouncements covering the same subject are compiled and incorporated in a single chapter. Material can be accessed through the IMPRESS Table of Contents which locates the chapter in which a particular pronouncement is discussed and the Index.
  • United States Securities and Exchange Commission / United States Securities and Exchange Commission
    Provides information on US publicly traded companies. Site also details regulatory information, including background on rulemaking and enforcement. Includes the EDGAR database and tips for investors in regard to the Internet. Note: SEC's EDGAR database requires all companies, foreign and domestic, to file registration statements, periodic reports, and other forms electronically through EDGAR. It has a delay on the release of filing data which ranges from 24-48 hours. The prospectus and proxy filings often contain information on market share and market size.
