  • AGRICOLA (AGRICultural OnLine Access)
    • Dates covered: 1970-current
    A bibliographic database of citations to agricultural literature created by the National Agricultural Library. Encompasses all aspects of agriculture and allied disciplines, including animal and veterinary sciences, entomology, plant sciences, forestry, aquaculture and fisheries, farming and farming systems, agricultural economics, extension and education, food and human nutrition, and earth and environmental sciences. The AGRICOLA database is organized into two bibliographic data sets, which must be searched separately. Both data sets are updated daily with newly cataloged and indexed materials. Online Public Access Catalog, contains citations to books, audiovisual materials, serial publications, and other materials in the NAL collection. AGRICOLA also contains bibliographic records for items cataloged by other libraries and not held in NAL's collection. Journal Article Citation Index, includes citations, many with abstracts, to journal articles (see List of Journals Indexed), book chapters, reports, and reprints.
  • AgEcon Search / University of Minnesota
    Developed and maintained at the University of Minnesota by the Magrath Library and the Department of Applied Economics. The AgEcon Search web site "collects, indexes, and electronically distributes full-text copies of scholarly research in the broadly defined field of agricultural economics."
  • AGRIS/CARIS Centre of Information Management for International Agricultural Research / Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations
    Search on several databases simultaneously, including:
    1. AGRIS (The International Information System for the Agricultural Sciences and Technology), part of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. (FAO) collects and identifies literature dealing with all facets of agriculture. At least 199 national, international and intergovernmental centers participate in this project and submit about 14,000 items per month. It allows simple and advanced searching as well as browsing by subject. It provides a Multilingual Agricultural Thesaurus that acts as a guide to choosing alternative words to search.
    2. CARIS (Current Agricultural Research Information System), part of the FAO, is a database of current agricultural research projects being carried out by, or on behalf of, developing countries. It deals with all aspects of agriculture: plant and animal production and protection; post harvest processing of primary agricultural products; forestry; fisheries; agricultural engineering; natural resources and the environment as related to agriculture; food and human nutrition; agricultural economics; rural development, and agricultural administration; legislation, information, education and extension. 156 national, international and intergovernmental centers participate in CARIS and there is information available on approximately 30,000 currently active projects.
    3. AGRIS-MHS - Multi-Host Based and Cross-Database Bibliographic Search Engine (AGRIS, ASFA, ELFIS and others)

  • Agricultural Communications Documentation Center (ACDC) / University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
    The Agricultural Communications Documentation Center (ACDC) is a unique literature collection and information service developed by agricultural communications faculty members at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. All documents in this collection deal with communications in connection with agriculture, emphasizing human and social dimensions of agriculture rather than the physical or technical aspects. The database is searchable by title, author, subject term, and/or journal. Access is given to feature articles, recent conference papers, useful links, a search tutorial, etc.
  • Farmland Information Library / Farmland Information Center
    This is a clearinghouse for information about farmland protection and stewardship. It contains a wealth of full-text reports, working papers, journals, newspapers, agencies, associations and reference resources. It is a partnership between USDA Natural Resources Conservation Serivce and American Farmland Trust.

    Agripedia, citing itself as an encyclopedia of agriculture, provides facts, figures, graphics, and more regarding the concepts, practices, and vocabulary of agriculture in a multimedia format using audio clips, graphics, text and animation. Of use to both the novice and the expert.

  • Agriculture Network Information Center (AgNIC)
    AgNIC is a voluntary alliance and partnership of more than 60 institutions and organizations (including the National Agricultural Library and land-grant universities) established to provide reliable access to quality agricultural information and sources on the internet. Topics cover a full range of agricultural, environmental, and food related disciplines.
  • Agronomic links around the globe / Purdue University
    A collection of websites for crop, soil, and environmental issues from around the world. It is organized by international, national and state categories, and is maintained by R.L. (Bob) Nielsen, Dept. of Agronomy, Purdue University.
  • Agriculture 21 / Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)
    The coverage for this monthly online magazine from Agriculture & Consumer Protection Department, Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN includes articles about crops, livestock, diseases and pests, land and water, nutrition food safety, rural services as well as articles about issues related to regulation, environmental risks, biosecurity and other agricultural topics.
  • Infomine / University of California Riverside, FIPSE & IMLS
    This portal, developed and supported by UC-Riverside, FIPSE & IMLS, provides access to a scholarly virtual library collection librarian-created and machine-created records which describe and link to academic Internet resources. Included are databases, electronic journals, electronic books, bulletin boards, mailing lists, online library card catalogs, articles, directories of researchers, etc., covering a vast number of subjects such as Bio, Ag, & Med Sciences, Maps & GIS.
  • Virtual library: agriculture
    The WWW Virtual Library for Agriculture is maintained by the NSF Center for Integrated Pest Management, located at North Carolina State University. The NSF Center for IPM maintains websites for a number of nonprofit, ag-related organizations. The database can be browsed by region, type of site (commercial, educational, government, non-profit, etc) and/or subject area.

  • International Food Policy Research Institute / International Food Policy Research Institute
    This website provide links to various activities of the International Food Policy Research Institute. This organization's mission is to identify and analyze policies for sustainably meeting the food needs of the developing world. It has launched an initiative called "A 2020 vision for Food, Agriculture, and the Environment". These contain a variety of full text forecasts.
  • OECD agricultural outlook / Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development

Agriculture Law and Regulations
  • National Agricultural Law Center / University of Arkansas. School of Law
    The only agriculatural law research and information facility that is independent, national and international in scope. This center conducts research and analysis and provides up-to-date information to farmers and agri-businesses in the area of agricultural law. It lists full-text publications, and contains a large portal of information.
