Locating Actual Tests


Tests that are widely used in education, counseling, and industry tend to be published and commercially available from test publishers. Many tests, however, are unpublished and created primarily for research purposes. This section provides some sources for these non-commericial tests, questionnaires, surveys, scales, and other measures.

    This is a comprehensive handbook of multi-item scales, with directions on how to use them provides an overview of the development of multi-item scales. The remaining chapters include scales on leading topics important to marketing research:  individual behavior; values; information processing; reactions to advertising stimuli; attitudes and ethics; and sales and sales management practices.  Each of the 124 scales is presented in a format which include the construct, description, development, samples, validity, scores, source, other evidence, other sources, references and scale items. The actual measurement item is included.

    This book is a comprehensive review of quantitative measures used within the areas of instructional, interpersonal, mass, and organizational communication.  Part Two, consists of "profiles" of more than 60  scales. Listed alphabetically, these profiles offer measures of satisfaction, credibility, affect, conflict, and media use, to name just a few.  Each profile includes background information on the scale, evaluation of its reliability and validity, its strengths and weaknesses, references to studies in which the scale has been employed, and in most cases the actual scale itself.

    An annual microfiche service collecting 25 to 100 tests not otherwise published. Users are cautioned that unlike commercially published tests, these tests have not been reviewed or evaluated. Tests are accessed with an annotated paper index (above). Brief descriptions of the tests are given in a numerical section along with identification numbers, title, and author. Author, title, and subject indexes provide access to this section, and to the actual tests. Tests are located on microfiche along with information on administration and scoring.
