  • EBSCO - Academic Search Complete
    Academic Search Complete is a scholarly, multi-disciplinary full-text database, with more than 5,500 full-text periodicals, including more than 4,600 peer-reviewed journals. In addition to full text, this database offers indexing and abstracts for more than 9,500 journals and a total of more than 10,000 publications including monographs, reports, conference proceedings, etc. The database features PDF content going back as far as 1887, with the majority of full text titles in native (searchable) PDF format. Searchable cited references are provided for nearly 1,000 journals.
  • AGRICOLA (AGRICultural OnLine Access)
    • Dates covered: 1970-current
    A bibliographic database of citations to agricultural literature created by the National Agricultural Library. Encompasses all aspects of agriculture and allied disciplines, including animal and veterinary sciences, entomology, plant sciences, forestry, aquaculture and fisheries, farming and farming systems, agricultural economics, extension and education, food and human nutrition, and earth and environmental sciences. The AGRICOLA database is organized into two bibliographic data sets, which must be searched separately. Both data sets are updated daily with newly cataloged and indexed materials. Online Public Access Catalog, contains citations to books, audiovisual materials, serial publications, and other materials in the NAL collection. AGRICOLA also contains bibliographic records for items cataloged by other libraries and not held in NAL's collection. Journal Article Citation Index, includes citations, many with abstracts, to journal articles (see List of Journals Indexed), book chapters, reports, and reprints.
  • Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries Abstracts (ASFA)
    • Dates covered: 1978-current
    Aquatic Sciences & Fisheries Indexes and abstracts serial publications, books, reports, conference proceedings, etc., on the aquatic & marine sciences. Site License.
  • Biological and Medical Sciences
    • Dates covered: 1982-current
    This interdisciplinary database offers abstracts and citations to a wide range of research in biomedicine, biotechnology, zoology and ecology, and some aspects of agriculture and veterinary science. Supporting over two dozen areas of expertise, this CSA database provides access to literature from over 6000 sources including serials, conference proceedings, technical reports, monographs and selected books and patents. Subfiles include ASFA: Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries Abstracts; Biological Sciences; Biology Digest; Conference Papers Index; MEDLINE; Oceanic Abstracts; and Plant Science
  • GEOBASE
    An index providing bibliographic information and abstracts for articles in geography, the Earth sciences, ecology, and oceanography. It covers almost 2,000 peer-reviewed journals and trade magazines.
  • GreenFILE
    • Dates covered: 1920-
    GreenFILE indexes scholarly and general interest publications that draw on the connection between the environment and disciplines such as agriculture, education, law, health and technology. The database contains nearly 300,000 records, with full text for selected titles and searchable cited references for hundreds of titles more. GreenFILE includes comprehensive coverage for Bioscience (1964-), Conservation Biology (1987-), Journal of Ecology (1913-) and Journal of Environmental Planning & Management (1948-).
  • Homeland Security Digital Library
    A collection of more than 50,000 full-text publications related to homeland security; it is available because WWU is a federal depository library. Most of these publications are government documents and topics include terrorism, border issues, climate change, immigration, pandemics, school violence, food security, etc. The HSDL is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's National Preparedness Directorate, FEMA and the Naval Postgraduate School Center for Homeland Defense and Security.
  • JSTOR
    JSTOR provides searchable full-text access to backfiles of core scholarly journals in many fields including African American Studies, Anthropology, Asian Studies, Ecology, Economics, Education, Finance, History, Language & Literature, Mathematics, Philosophy, Political Science, Population Studies, Sociology, and Statistics. There is a gap, usually from 1 to 5 years, between the most recently published journal issue and the content available in JSTOR. Site License.
  • Web of Science
    • Dates covered: 1995-current
    The Web of Sciences includes three citation indexes: Science Citation Index, Social Sciences Citation Index and the Arts and Humanities Citation Index. Over 8,000 scholarly, peer-reviewed journals published from 1995 to the present are included in the indexing. Building on the list of cited sources (or footnotes) for each entry, this database can search for works that have cited a specific author or a specific article. Web of Science is also searchable by keyword, author, journal, address and other fields. Consortium (12 Libraries) Share 15 Simultaneous Users.
Government Information
Western Libraries is a depository for publications of the U.S., Washington state, and Canadian governments.
  • GPO Monthly Catalog (Government Printing Office)
    • Dates covered: 1976-current
    Indexes congressional committee reports, hearings, debates, and documents from executive departments, and more. Retrospective coverage by the print edition of the Monthly Catalog of Government Publications from 1900 to date is available in the Government Information area under the call no. GP 3.8/8: (Wilson 2 East). Consortium Shares 3 Simultaneous Users.
  • Selected U.S. Government Environmental Webpages
    A selection of websites about the environment produced by agencies of the U.S. Government. It lists the main subjects covered by each website and indicates whether it is an agency home page, whether it contains libraries of data, etc.
