"Instructional technology [another term for educational technology] encompasses technologies, theories and models from a wide range of disciplines, such as computer science, media production, psychology, instructional design, and educational practice. Instructional technology is largely concerned with the application of electronic technology to the instructional environment. Instructional technology includes applications such as computer-based training and instruction, distance learning, and interactive multimedia." Locating Materials at Western Libraries
  • This research guide is an introduction to materials in the Western Libraries.
It is by no means a comprehensive list, but a tool to begin further inquiry. To locate more materials on educational technology topics, search the Western Libraries Online Catalog using the Subject Headings listed below. In addition to these Subject Headings, you might also try the Keyword search option with these and related terms. We recommend that you also search these terms in Summit to expand your search. We are continually adding materials to the library collection, so the newest additions may not be represented in this guide, although we will make every effort to keep this up to date.
  • Using the Online Catalog
Find books and other materials by keyword or subject heading in the Western Libraries Catalog. For help using the library catalog, consult the guide How to Search the Online Catalog: An Overview. The Western Libraries Online Catalog uses Library of Congress Subject Headings. These subject headings provide access to the language of the catalog so you can locate books and other library resources, such as videos, microforms and government documents.

  • Summit
Summit is the combined library catalog of Pacific Northwest academic libraries. Use Summit to locate and request materials like books and videos which are not available from Western Libraries. To access Summit, search our library catalog first, then choose the option to “Repeat search in Summit”. To learn more, go to the Summit information page.
