EndNote and ERIC

The ERIC database is provided by Cambridge Scientific Abstracts (CSA). To import records from ERIC to an EndNote library file, do the following:

Save a search from the database

Select to display the Save/Print/Email screen

Select to save the Full Record format to a text file. The records will display in the browser window:

Be sure to save the records as a Text File (*.txt), not as a HTML file.

Start the EndNote program, and create a new library file, unless you wish to add records to an existing library file.

When creating a new file, the default name is "Untitled.enl."

After entering a file name, select from the File menu, "Import" and then change the "Import Option" to ERIC (CSA).

Click on the down arrow to see a list of Import files,

Select the ERIC (CSA) import filter.

Click on "Choose File" to find the Import Data File, the text file saved from the ERIC search.

Click on the "Import" button to bring the ERIC search records into the EndNote library file.

Now the records may be managed in the EndNote software.
