Western Libraries Outreach Program
Library Outreach to the Western Washington University Community
Western Libraries reaches out to WWU students, faculty and staff through a variety of events and media
to share information about the full range of library services and resources and how to use them. Here are some of the library
outreach activities offered to the WWU community:
- We regularly participate in campus information fairs and student support service events.
We staff event tables, provide library information and publications, make presentations and
offer guided tours.
Events include annual activities such as Transitions, Summerstart, the Info Fair on Red Square, and
other orientation events provided for incoming students or sponsored by Associated Student groups.
- We make presentations
to various campus groups to inform them of the Libraries' services and resources, and to
find out ways the Libraries can be of further service to students, faculty and staff at WWU.
- We offer library orientation and instruction activities.
These include guided and self-guided tours, as well as orientation sessions and instructional workshops focused on
learning about and using library resources. Note: These outreach activities are targeted to groups other than academic departments.

- We write informative articles for campus publications about
library services, resources and events. These include guides to campus life directed at students, such as the Bluepages,
Transitions Newsletter, Graduate Students Brochure, and FYI: First Year Information Newsletter .
- We create and circulate publications about library services and resources
to students and prospective students. These include the Western Libraries
annual newsletter, The Connector, as well as
many other informative publications, both in print and online through the
Western Libraries web site.
