Environmental Universe
Contains more than 20 databases, including:

Environment Abstracts.  Covers the world's environmental related information. Environment Abstracts provides indexing and abstracting coverage of more than 1,000 international primary and secondary publications reporting on all aspects of the environment. These publications highlight such fields as management, technology, planning, law, political science, economics, geology, biology, and chemistry as they relate to environmental issues.  Draws material from over 1,000 scientific, technical, trade, professional, and general periodicals; conference papers and proceedings; government documents; industry reports; newspapers; and project reports. The Envirofiche collection, located on Wilson Library 2nd Floor West, provides microfiche copies of many of the materials found in Environment Abstracts.

Environmental News.  The complete text of thousands of short articles from Greenwire, Environment and Energy Daily, Mining Journal, Seattle Times, Boston Globe, and hundreds of other sources.

Environmental Law Reviews.  Full text of articles from  Columbia Journal of Environmental Law, Ecology Law Quarterly, Environmental Lawyer,  Public Land & Resources Law Review, etc.

Web of Science
Contains Science Citation Index, Social Science Citation Index, and Arts and Humanities Index, which can be searched separately or together.  These indexes list all the citations (footnotes) in scholarly articles. You can search by subject, or you can look up  authors or works to see who is citing them.

Georef An index to journals in geology.

JSTOR
A full-text collection of hundreds of scholarly journals, in some cases going back to the 1800s.  While it indexes no geography journals, it covers six ecology journals, five on Asian studies, eight on population studies, etc.

AGRICOLA (AGRICultural OnLine Access)
A bibliographic database of citations to agricultural literature created by the National Agricultural Library.  Encompasses all aspects of agriculture and allied disciplines, including earth and environmental sciences.

Biological and Medical Sciences
Index to journals and magazines in the fields of biology and agriculture.

PAIS International
An index to periodical articles, government documents, conference proceedings, etc. about public affairs (essentially, the social sciences).

Global Newsbank
News articles covering politics, economics, culture, business, science, technology and the environment from Africa, Asia, Europe, the former Soviet Union, the Pacific Rim, Central and South America, and the Middle East. All articles are in English and are from over 1000 translated broadcasts, news agency transmissions, wire services, newspapers, magazines and government documents." No newspapers are fully indexed, but all articles are full-text.

Statistical Universe
A database listing over 100,000 statistical publications.

NOTE: This is a print resource.  Indexes and abstracts articles from geographical journals, books, conference proceedings, reports, and theses related to human geography, population, people and regions, rural studies, urban studies, national, regional and community planning, environmental planning, transport and communications, and recreational geography.

 

Geographical Abstracts: Physical Geography.  Ref  GB 54.5 G 46
NOTE: This is a print resource.  Indexes and abstracts articles from geographical journals, books, conference proceedings, reports, and theses related to physical  geography, sedimentology, landforms, hydrology, meteorology and climatology, and remote sensing photogrammetry, and cartography.

NOTE: This is a print resource.  Indexes and briefly abstracts books and articles from 70 journals.



Government Information

Wilson Library has over half a million government publications, mostly of the U.S., Canadian, and Washington state governments, located on Haggard 2.  Most are in the library catalog (the biggest exception is U.S. federal documents from before 1976).
