Leza Madsen - Librarian for College of Arts & Sciences

Entrance to Sudden ValleyWelcome to my web site! My name is Leza Madsen. I joined Western Washington University Libraries as a reference and instruction services librarian in September, 2002. I am an active member of the American Library Association and the Pacific Northwest Library Association. Before coming back to Western Washington University I was Professor of Library Studies at the University of Alaska Anchorage's Matanuska Susitna College Library, a Social Science Reference Librarian at the University of Hawaii's Manoa Library and a reference librarian for King County Library System in Seattle. I earned my Master's in Library Science from University of Hawaii at Manoa with an emphasis on Cross-Cultural Librarianship. I also hold a Master's degree in Applied Communication Research from Stanford University and a B.A. in Anthropology and Sociology from Western Washington University.

I think that Western is the best place for me to be at this time in my life because it allows me to work with students and faculty in a way that is ethical and growth producing. I am very enthused about the Western program and its students and faculty.

I am the library liason for the following programs and/or departments (click for resources):
