The display for Spring 2002 included books from Wilson Library Children's and Curriculum Collections. It highlighted books about
environmental issues. Books featured covered topics on ecology and biodiversity, endangered species
and wildlife conservation, energy resources, pollution and waste, and environmental
conservation issues. Genres represented included children's and young adult nonfiction, fiction and
"E" (easy) books. Curriculum materials for K-12 environmental education were also showcased.
The materials which were on display are listed below under Specific Topics & Genres.

Earth Day: Grades 2-3

Erin Peterson offers a mini-unit for grades 2-3 that focuses on the reasons for the celebration of
Earth Day and how students can improve the environment of the Earth. Peterson provides background information,
lists the materials needed, and highlights the procedures of the unit. There is also a mini-unit for
Earth Day: Grades 4-6.
These mini-units are part of Celebrations, which offers
curriculum enrichment materials and activities for elementary social studies teachers. Celebrations is part of

Includes information about the Jane Goodall Institute, the Gombe Stream Research
