Medieval & Arthurian Resources

A Selected Bibliography

Western Washington University

King Arthur

Medieval & Arthurian Resources: A Selected Bibliography was originally created to accompany The Many Realms of King Arthur, a national traveling exhibition presented at Western Libraries from October 12 to December 8, 2000.

As with the exhibition, the bibliography's focus begins in the early Middle Ages and continues into the 21st Century.  Significant primary resources in Arthurian and other medieval literature form one part of the bibliography.  Adaptations of Arthurian romances trace influences through subsequent centuries to the present. Other topics covered in medieval culture and history include fine and performing arts, history, religion, and women in the Middle Ages.  Major themes represented relate to King Arthur, knights, chivalry, courtly love and the Holy Grail.

The bibliography emphasizes books and other materials available from Western Libraries.  Materials presented include selected reference sources, periodical indexes and databases, periodicals, seminal and recent works, and internet resources.  Citations link to bibliographic records in the online catalog, to verify item location and availability. The original print version, A Bibliography of Medieval & Arthurian Resources Available From Western Libraries, can be found in the circulating and Special Collections areas of the library.
