Special Collections is Moving!
Special Collections is moving this fall (2009)! The collections will be in transit starting in early November and we hope to be up and running in our new home on the sixth floor of Wilson Library, with all services in operation, by December 1.
While the move is taking place there will be no, or, at best, extrememly limited access to our materials. For more information, some history, and plenty of pictures, click here.

Trout and Salmonid Collection Gift
We are pleased to announce a fine gift from the libraries of Montana State University of back issues of four important fly fishing-related periodicals, the MSU Libraries Special Collections department maintains the well-known "Trout and Salmonid Collection."
The gift includes an extensive run (1976-2006) of the beautifully printed Gray's Sporting Journal, a two-year run (2003-2005) of Northwest Fly Fishing, a long run (1978-2008) of the Portland-based Salmon Trout Steelheader, and a complete collection of issues (1973-1979) of the Montana Trout Unlimited newsletter River Rat, edited by George Grant.
MSU was able to make these materials available to us as they duplicate resources already held in its collection. The gift was initiated and facilitated by James Thull, reference librarian and assistant professor at the MSU Libraries, to whom we extend our sincere thanks.

Washington Fly Fishing Club Gift
The Washington Fly Fishing Club, represented by Kris Kristoferson (pictured here with Marian), recently completed the gift to the Fly Fishing Collection of a wonderful collection of materials from its archives.
Among other treasures, the gift includes manuscripts, research materials, and other items created by renowned local fly fisher Letcher Lambuth as well as early photographs of Enos Bradner, a well-known Northwest fisher and author.
We are enormously grateful to the WFFC for entrusting us with this material, and especially thank Kris for facilitating their delivery and our friend Steve Raymond for his work in making the gift a reality.
