Biographical Note

A teacher and scholar of marine sciences, Stephen D. Sulkin was born August 14, 1944, in Topeka, Kansas. He was educated at Miami University (Ohio) (AB, 1966) and Duke University (MS/PhD (Marine Biology), 1971). His academic experience includes professorial appointments at the Chesapeake Biological Laboratory and the Horn Point Experimental Laboratories of the University of Maryland. In 1985, Dr. Sulkin joined the faculty of Western Washington University, where he is currently a professor and director of the University's Shannon Point Marine Center. During 1993, Dr. Sulkin served as Acting Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs. A distinguished mentor to students in the field of marine sciences and a prolific contributor to the literature of the field, Dr. Sulkin also serves as editor of the journal Estuarine Coastal and Shelf Science. His research interests include the behavior, ecology, physiology, and nutritional ecology of larval states of crabs.

Scope and Contents Note

The collection consist of off-prints and other copies of articles and chapters in the field of marine sciences, in particular the study of crab larvae. The collection is ongoing, with the first item published in 1973.
