Our Charge
The role of the UDT is to ensure that the Western Libraries web site is developed in accordance with the principles of user-centered design. Changes to the web site will be based on user feedback obtained through a variety of methods. To accomplish this, the UDT will continually evaluate the library web site to ensure that the stated goals of the site are met, taking responsibility for providing guidance and oversight in the organization, design, content, and maintenance of the web site. The UDT will create and implement a web style guide to be used as a tool for maintaining a cohesive and user-centered design. The UDT is committed to professional development, and will share information as appropriate with library web authors.

Our Mission
The Western Libraries web site is the primary window through which the world sees and interacts with the library. The web site and its content are official university publications. The purpose of the site is to fulfill the mission of the Libraries by ensuring that students and faculty can identify and obtain the materials to sustain their scholarly activities. The web site serves as a gateway to library resources and to information about the library, its collections, services and events, for the university and broader communities.

Our Goals
The goals of the Western Libraries for its web site are to:
- Provide consistent and integrated access to quality resources, incorporating new technologies, standards and best practices, as appropriate.
- Enable self-sufficiency and promote life-long learning through a user-centered interface.
- Present and organize library and resource information to enhance ease of access for our user communities.
- Support users in fulfilling their information needs through a variety of assistance, guides and instructional options.
- Meet the diverse and changing needs of the WWU community.
- Solicit and encourage user feedback and communication with the Libraries.
- Actively promote the Western Libraries and their services.
